Philip M. Young has received numerous awards and commissions. Over two hundred of his choral, handbell, and organ compositions have been published. He is a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers, having won numerous ASCAP standard compositions annual awards. He is also a member of the American Guild of Organists, and a past president of the North Carolina Baptist Music Conference.
Phil’s work is currently being published by Morningstar, Augsburg Fortress, Jeffers, and St. James Music Press.
Philip M. Young is a native of Greenville, SC. He received his education at North Greenville University, Furman University, and the Graduate School of Music of Florida State University. In 1987 he was awarded the honorary Doctor of Letters from Campbell University, in recognition of his contributions to church music.
He has served as minister of music/organist and as a representative for a major pipe organ builder. He has also served frequently as a choral and handbell clinician. He is a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers, having won numerous annual standard awards. He is also a member of the American Guild of Organists, and a past president of the North Carolina Baptist Music Conference.
